Dr Lance Rasbridge is a medical anthropologist who coordinates a health program for newly-arrived refugees to Dallas, Texas. His academic background is in researching Cambodians' experiences, so over the years he has been particularly focused on the rebuilding efforts inside Cambodia in addition to working with the resettled refugee population in the U.S. This has led to his interest in excellent quality education in Cambodia, which has brought him to Dewey as a senior Advisor. Dr Rasbridge is highly qualified, holding a PhD in Anthropology from Southern Methodist University in the United States, he has also published many outstanding peer reviewed texts.
Helmut Sachs has over 10 years of experience in managing and implementing projects for large enterprises. He has extensive international experience in team and project management, negotiation, workshop facilitation, and professional training. Before joining DIU, he worked as a manager in Germany, China, and Taiwan for a German certification body and a multinational large-machinery manufacturing and engineering company. In addition, Helmut also has worked for several years as a lecturer and trainer. He has taught in various disciplines, including IT subjects, creative thinking, and logic and critical thinking. Helmut holds a German engineering degree in computer science from the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Germany.
Ms Tamara Salajic has almost 20 years of teaching experience in the diverse fields of primary, secondary and tertiary education. She is qualified and experienced in teaching students who are differently abled and in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She has an extensive educational background, holding 5 degrees from Universities in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, including Masters degrees in Educational Leadership and Management, Disability Education and TESOL. She has presented at conferences internationally. Tamara is passionate about her profession; she is dedicated to the continuous improvement of Education for Cambodian students. Her responsibilities at Dewey International include advising across all campuses and she is the Vice Dean of our Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Languages at Dewey International University. She has volunteered for several years as the Educational Advisor at Battambang’s oldest Cambodian NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) Ptea Teuk Dong (PTD) working with very poor and underprivileged children.
Gwen Higaki is co-founder and Executive Director of BrightStart Learning, Inc., a 501C3 nonprofit organization established in early-2012 to serve the educational needs of children in Cambodia. Gwen led her church’s pioneer trip to Battambang, Cambodia in 2009 and her life was forever changed. After two return trips to Battambang in the next 18 months, Gwensurrendered to God’s gentle but persistent whisper calling her to pursue ministry and business opportunities in Cambodia. In May 2011, she resigned from an executive position at FirstEnergy Corporation, a Fortune 200 electric utility, to make her calling a reality. BrightStart Learning is growing quickly and now provides remedial education assistance to over 600 village children and orphans in the Battambang Province of Cambodia at 8 study centers. BrightStart has provided full scholarships for orphans to attend Dewey International University for the past four school years. In her 23 years of service at FirstEnergy Corporation, Gwen’s areas of expertise were finance, project management and utility regulation. She has Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. Gwen has twice received the YWCA’s Woman of Professional Excellence Award. In 2004, she was honored as the Distinguished Alumni of Lake Erie College for career achievement and service. Gwen and husband Vernon have two married sons living in Louisville, Kentucky and Columbus, Ohio.
Ms. Shari Mottram is from America and works with us as a Curriculum Advisor at Dewey Childcare House and DIS-Elite. She has nearly 20 years experience teaching children in various settings, including teaching for Dewey International Co, Ltd, at DIU (Dewey International University) and DCH (Dewey Childcare House). Shari's passion for education does not end with school age children as she has taught people of all ages, from many different countries.
