UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

Upon completion of the Foundation Year, students will enter one of DIU’s undergraduate programs to work towards a Bachelor’s degree.

Bachelor’s Degree Program -- Khmer Language

Students must complete the following program of study of at least 129 credits or 43 courses.

  1. Completion of Foundation Year. The FY program comprises 8 common courses and an additional 2 oriented courses related to specific faculties. The Foundation Year must be completed before students can continue their more advanced studies.
  2. 9 Functional courses required of all students
  3. 7 additional departmental courses related to specific faculties
  4. 8 specialized courses in specialized departmental majors
  5. A final year project valued at 6 credits
  6. A final year specialized seminar valued at 3 credits
  7. 6 elective courses (at least two from major faculty, at least two from outside major faculty.)

International Bachelor’s Degree Program -- English Language

The International Bachelor’s Degree Program is the same as the Khmer Language program, with certain stipulations

  1. The Foundation Year will be carried out in the Khmer language. The classes will be identical to those of the Khmer language Foundation Year program.
  2. In order to enter the International Program in the second year, students must pass an English placement test. Students who do not pass the placement test will be given a level placement in the English for Academic Purposes program.
    • Students may take the placement test at the beginning of their Foundation Year program, and may study in the EAP program concurrently with their Khmer language Foundation Year courses. If their progress in English language is deemed satisfactory (as measured by passing the appropriate level EAP courses), they may enter the International program upon completion of their Foundation Year courses.
    • Students may take the placement test during or after their Foundation Year. They can then study courses in the International Program as soon as they reach the required level in English language.
    • Students may not count Khmer-medium courses past the Foundation Year towards an International program. They must complete all post-FY courses in English after they have completed their English language requirement.
